Iconoclaste

A few months after his first exhibition in Asia entitled “Jisbar’s Playground” which took place in Bangkok, Jisbar comes back to land in Singapore at the Miaja Gallery for the Voilah! France Singapore Festival 2019. Guided by the theme “Iconoclaste”, the artist created artworks celebrating modern-day major icons such Mona Lisa, Basquiat and Karl Lagerfeld. Wishing to escape the usual constraint of sticking to a specific era or industry, Jisbar portrayed the biggest figures in the world of fashion, art or entertainment while incorporating the unique blend of street and pop art of his style. He offered offbeat perspectives by using provocative elements such as a flashy ‘Karl who?’ question painted on the portrait of the famous designer. Jisbar also created a number of limited-edition commemorative items available for purchase at the opening and four of the curated artworks remained on display for the duration of the festival.
